What Are The Mild Tropical Breezes Blowing In Next?

Tropical Breezes newsletter is aimed at giving you a look what compass heading this web site is on. We will also be posting stories, some from our crew as well as posting YOUR interesting adventures. So please check back and see what the Tropical Breezes are blowing in.

December 2008

Are you feeling the pain of the economy like most of us? Well if you can find a way to travel now is the time to find those really good deals. If you have never taken an "all Inclusive" vacation I strongly suggest you consider taking advantage of what they offer. You need very little money once you arrive, taking the worry out of managing your money for the week. This year you could see some of the best deals you will ever see again.

As always please send photos or stories of your vacation you would like to share and I will get them posted. Your stories can be about your stay, the beaches, excursions, you choose.

Did you know that a Blue Whale has a heart the size of a cow? A new born calf is approximately 23' long and can gain as much as 8 lbs per hour. What does this have to do with Punta Cana? Nothing...absolutely nothing but it makes for good conversation around the coffee pot at work. But did you know that the Dominican is a very good place to watch whales? There is a very good chance of seeing Humpback whales near the Dominican Republic starting in December. Primary locations include Silver Bank, Navidad bank and Samana Bay from December to the middle of April.

September 2008

They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Well then I guess the staff should be flattered here at puntacana-vacation based on a recent search. A visitor emailed us that they found that one of the top Punta Cana websites copied our format on the "all inclusive" page. The website even claims that they are taking a "light hearted" look at Punta Cana. And to think that in grade school I was always dropping my pencil to copy classmates papers. OK...I was actually doing it to get a look at cute girls legs but the teacher thought I was long necking. Since this other website can't see my legs, one has to assume plagerism or some other ism is going on and we are to easy going to care here at puntacana-vacation

If you are from a colder climate then it's getting about that time when you begin to dream about your next Punta Cana vacation. I can't think of anything that is more enjoyable then making those plans to go. This year may require more planning than usual due to high jet fuel prices and reduced flights in and out of Punta Cana. I have some suggestions for that...

* Step 1 - Go to "Caribbean Island Drinks" page
* Step 2 - Mix your favorite drink
* Step 3 - Put on your favorite Island music
* Step 4 - Relax, have fun while you plan your trip
* Step 5 - Purchase extra ticket for me

As for the website, I am going to put an "about us" page to give you some insight in to what we are all about. It has been suggested that words alone can not describe us but we will try. We are going to continue to add photos and hotel information this month so send in photos that you would like to post.

August 2008

Check out the Tropical Drinks page if you have not visited it in awhile. Some of your favorite cocktails are now being added. We started with Rum based drinks and are now putting on those drinks with Vodka.

We will also continue to update the photo section with some pictures that I snapped in 2008. Cathy, one of the crew, sent me her photos from this year to post as well.

Good news! Expedia has excepted our website as an affiliate so you will be able to explore and book directly from our website. I hope to have Expedia up on the website by mid September.

I find myself traveling almost everyday so I have started to write from the various hotel rooms. I am currently in Canada and I do not have the software to resize photos on this laptop. However, this weekend I will try to post some photos of slackers that I noticed on my Punta Cana vacation. If you have Punta Cana photos that you would like to post, please send them. You can only look at our crew so much, and few of us you shouldn’t look at period (could cause retinal damage).

July 2008

Well I'm back at the keyboard and what a busy time it has been. We had a another great time in Punta Cana this year. We vacationed with some great people from Wisconsin and Canada and met many others from all over the world. Since being back from the Dominican Republic in March I have had to travel every week and some weekends. Due to my lack of posting on puntacana-vacation.com the travel crew is asking that I get "Slacker of the month". This request was submitted to the board of directors at puntacana-vacation and they have ruled that editors are not eligible (I should get someone to join me on the board). After hearing this landmark ruling, we have our first non-crew member "Slacker of the month".

We have added a page on the Punta Cana Airport complete with a few photos and all the flights that we could find from all over the world. Coming in August we will be adding a "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) page, Recipes for the "Caribbean Drinks" page and updating the photos section. We will also be adding a stories/article page which will include a highlight on the proper procedure for performing a "Snorkeloscopy". Yup, I (Forty) did it again and you don't want to miss this one!

March 2008

March is finally here and we are excited for several reasons. First, it is only several more weeks until we head to O'Hare airport for our vacation in Punta Cana. We are staying at Gran Bahia Principe which is a 5 golden apple so we are always ready to try a new resort. We will put together a photo album and some reviews of the resort when (if) we come back. The second reason we are excited about March is the fact that we had some serious snow in the Chicago area. I have included a few snow shots of Gina and also a few of the neighborhood. I don't think I could take one more snow fall, watching Gina shovel all winter just wore me out.

Bob'o has declared that he is going to slow down and relax more on this years vacation. The only way he could slow down any more would be if his heart stopped beating.

Jim had to go the ships doctor last week on his cruise to the Western Caribbean. He was experiencing some extreme discomfort that just wouldn't go away. They think they have diagnosed the problem but it may be a permanent condition. He has what they call checkerboard butt (I never have heard of it before) . The most likely cause is setting in lounge chairs on vacation too long which creates squares from the weaving in the chair. The on board doctor says its rare that an individual has enough vacation time to cause this affliction. His only hope to lose the checkerboard butt someday, is to keep busy rather then sitting. The Doc has suggested that he do tasks like getting drinks for others on future vacations. FYI - an occasional hut cleaning may also help pass the time. I know we are hard on Jim, but we also are loyal friends so we will show him that we care (and are concerned) by letting him get us drinks and clean the hut in Punta Cana. (the only other cure is "work" but unfortunately he can't find his office on Map Quest)

As you have noticed, I have finished the "Slackers" page and have added a page on Larimar and Cerveza. I will continue to improve the existing pages this month and will add a few new pages as well. One more note, there are some very good deals out there if you look. Congratulations to Susan and her daughter, also Mike, and Sandy on finding those good deals and thanks for your emails.

Sincerely, Forty

FAQ

One thing I have noticed over the past year is that many of the questions about traveling to Punta Cana are the same. I will begin to post those questions on a "Frequently Asked Questions" page.

Airport

I thought I would add a page on the Punta Cana airport, listing airlines and some guidelines on getting through including some minor fees. I will also add some photos of the airport when I return at the end of March. I travel a lot on business and this is by far the most interesting looking airport that I have ever been in.

February 2008

Here we are in February already, which means only 7 weeks until our motley crew starts their Punta Cana Vacation! This is the month that the excitement starts to build for the trip. When the tanning bed lights come on for the first time you know that the spring ritual has begun. That is true for any trip, we all have those triggers that start us in that vacation mode no matter what the compass heading.

So how are those New Years resolutions coming? Mine is off to a slow start, I have a resolution to find some new friends because the ones that I currently have are not working out so well. As you may have seen, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow Saturday (an old German tradition in PA.), leading the groundhog to forecast six more weeks of winter. My friends sent me an e:mail and said that it is a good thing I'm not a groundhog; I would cast a shadow over entire Caribbean that would last for months. That's not normal...so I am finding new friends. Speaking of friends, drop us a line at Tropical Breezes on the "contact us" page if you are going to Punta Cana on week of March 22nd, or any other week for that matter.

So you have seen that several pages have been added including a weather page to remind you of the nice Caribbean weather that Punta Cana is having and you're not. I have just completed a "Photos" page as promised. It took some time to set up but it has been fun adding captions about the crew. So get your photos sent in and I will add them with the captions you send in (optional). I am still working on the "slackers" page and should have it up in one or two weeks. Thanks for visiting Tropical Breezes news letter, let's take a look at the next few projects that will be blowing in on those warm tropical winds.

Slackers

I am still working on "Slackers of the month" page and should have it completed in short order. Just in case you are wondering I have decided to create a web page dedicated to YOU enjoying the beach life. Each month I will pick a "Slacker of the month" (click to see January's winner) and post it. If you have a photo of someone enjoying the good life (slacking off) please send it in to puntacana-vaction.com

Larimar

I will be adding a page dedicated to Larimar with a little history complete with photos. For those who are not familiar with Larimar, it is a stone that is found only in the Dominican Republic. It is typically blue or light green however variations do exist such as Larimar with hints of red color in it. I will add some photos of "rough" and polished jewelery in March.

Cerveza

That's right! A page dedicated to beer in the Dominican Republic. Why? because it's beer...enough said. We will discuss a brief history but one brand dominates the market on Hispaniola and if you are staying at an all inclusive it will be offered. On many resorts you may only see one brand and I will be exploring that also.

January 2008

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Are you planning your 2008 Punta Cana Vacation yet. Well if you have never been to Punta Cana I strongly suggest you give the beaches a try. They are wide, rock free and powdery white. If you enjoy long walks on the beach then you won't be disappointed because you have over 25 miles of beaches lined with coconut trees. As for Gina and I and the crew, we have our airline tickets in hand and will be heading down to Punta Cana on March 22nd. We decided to stay at Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort this year. We stayed at the Gran Palladium Palace last year and had a great time, so we are excited to see what this year brings. If you are traveling to Punta Cana the week of March 22nd drop us a line at puntacana-vacation.com.

Slackers

In today's world it is unacceptable to be a slacker, hard work is what fills the sails! Well that's not entirely true...When you go on vacation you have one thing on your mind..."Slacking Off"! I have decided to create a web page dedicated to YOU enjoying the beach life. Each month I will pick a "Slacker of the month" (click to see January's winner) and post it. If you have a photo of someone enjoying the good life (slacking off) please send it in to puntacana-vaction.com

Photos

Another project we will be working on is developing a photo page dedicated to your Punta Cana vacation. So send in your favorite photos and we will try to post them. If you have comments or a story that goes with the photos please feel free to send that along also. You can send as many as you like, however we might be limited to posting 10. As you can see this is our first website and are learning as we go.
